The Gagnon and Belzile Families

Saguenay / Lac-St-Jean Chapter

President’s message

The objectives of our chapter are to:

  • Develop a regional structure that allows us to create links between us and to learn about our respective family histories
  • Organize social and historical activities which have a link, new or old, with Gagnons and Belziles of the area
  • Encourage the Gagnons and Belziles to write their memoirs and to identify their family photos, and accept to share them, preferably with the wider community
  • Create a network of contacts to exchange various kinds of information (resources, events)
  • Ensure a representativeness of the various families of the area within the association

Hope to meet you soon,

Carole Gagnon

The Saguenay / Lac-Saint-Jean Chapter was initially created September 1st, 1993, mainly by members of the Saguenay, chaired by Jean-Roch Gagnon of Chicoutimi. Unfortunately the chapter had to be dissolved ten years later on November 30, 2003, because no one wanted to assume leadership. However, members of the region continued to cooperate in hosting the association's activities. Among them, the “Salon des Familles Souches” in 2007 and the visit of a delegation from our French cousins in 2008 are two activities that contributed to mark the re-establishment of the Saguenay / Lac-Saint-Jean chapter, as it currently exists. It was officially re-established May 3, 2009 mainly by members of the Lac-Saint-Jean, and some members of Saguenay area, under the chairmanship of Carole Gagnon in Dolbeau-Mistassini. Discover or find several special moments in "Past activities and photos gallery".
